Client Success Story: Creating a Cutting-Edge Web Application for Enterprise Success

CHALLENGES

Our client’s project manager selected Odyssey Information Services’ professional services team to build a new web application in collaboration with the client’s employees. The team’s goal was to retire an existing application and reduce customer service call volume by providing a user-friendly, self-service experience. The program was divided into phases, with a successful phase leading to funding for the next phase. The first phase set the stage for the minimum viable product to be delivered into production so client’s customers could provide feedback to drive the direction and priorities of future enhancements.

SOLUTIONS

Choosing an Agile Methodology

Given the aggressive timelines of the project, a kanban approach to development was selected to keep the team lean and focused.

Writing User Stories

Initial requirements called for extensive analysis and design. Odyssey’s business analyst utilized his industry experience to write nearly 200 user stories.

Building the Application Environments

Our developers leveraged the client’s e-commerce web application framework to develop new micro-services and rework existing services, while the single-page applications were built from scratch using modern technologies. The team worked with external teams to define the interfaces between applications and build the environments for the new application.

Validating Code Quality

Our testers validated the code being built was high quality and reflected the requirements. Extensive documentation was created by the entire team to ensure the application met the enterprise’s expectations.

RESULTS

The minimum viable product was activated into production on time to the delight of our client’s customers.

Our client received funding for phase two of the web application project.

The successful launch further solidified our reputation as a dedicated, knowledgeable and trustworthy professional services partner. Our client’s employees continue to request to collaborate with our team on initiatives.
