Employee Spotlight: Charles Sepulveda
- What is your role at Odyssey Information Services & how long have you worked for them?
I have been with Odyssey for 10 years, and am currently serving two roles: Data Integrity Supervisor, and Onboarding Specialist. As the Data Integrity Supervisor, my team handles the invoice validation for Shell’s Retail Telecom, as well as the GSAP support processes for Retail Telecom, Cards & Loyalty, Legacy vendors, VMO (Vendor Management Office) vendors, and one-off projects. I also serve as the Onboarding Specialist under Connie Gimbel’s supervision for her Break/Fix and Move/Add/Change teams. I am tasked with drafting the documentation for the support processes, and ensuring that they are kept evergreen.
- What drew you to become an Onboarding Specialist?
I’m inquisitive, and this drives me to find ways to improve my job performance. As I learn more about the why’s of my job, it helps to give me insight as to what areas I need to strengthen. I seek out information to help me become better and more efficient. From my beginnings as a Site Ops Operator into the Onboarding Specialist role, I’ve picked up knowledge that helped me move into the Data Integrity Supervisor role. All of the job duties are related to a degree, so I had a good foundation of the retail sites, and their corresponding telecoms, which allowed for sure footing into my first supervisory role.
- What’s your greatest achievement during your time at Odyssey?
My greatest achievement has been learning and onboarding GSAP support. This has allowed my team and I to resolve vendor issues quickly through the relationships that we’ve built in the Shell Accounts Payable environment. Sometimes, because of our insight, we are able to head off potential problems before they become major headaches. This is a benefit to both, the vendors and Shell.
- What has been your favorite project working for Shell?
I would say it’s the GSAP support. While we were not afforded much time to learn beforehand, the never ending learning opportunities in our daily responsibilities have proven to be challenging and rewarding. There’s nothing more rewarding than resolving an issue, and having someone say thanks for your help.
- What are some things you like to do in Houston?
I’m a huge music fan, so I try to catch a live show often. Whether it’s supporting friends in local bands, or watching a national band. I’m also a big sports fan, so I like to watch the Astros and Texans play.
- List some fun facts about yourself (kids, pets, obscure facts, etc)
I have one furbaby, and her name is Bailey. She’s the focus of my world whenever I’m not playing guitar in my band.
